Companion Animal Wellness offers expert online support for dog and cat guardians seeking kind, effective behaviour and nutrition advice. Our virtual consultations help you understand your companion animal’s needs, improve wellbeing, and build stronger bonds—right from the comfort of home.

How do virtual consultations work?

All sessions take place online using Google Meet. You’ll receive a link in your confirmation email and can join the session from your computer, phone, or tablet.

Who will I speak with?

All consultations are carried out by qualified, experienced professionals who specialise in behaviour or nutrition. We'll match you based on availability, and for follow up appointments you can choose your practitioner during booking.

Can I choose my consultant?

For your first appointment, we'll generally match you based on pooled availability of our consultants, but you're welcome to select a consultant when booking. For follow up appointments, we recommend you select the same consultant for continuity.

What do I need to prepare?

During booking, you’ll complete a short form to help us understand your concerns. You don’t need to do anything else — just find a quiet space and bring any relevant notes or questions.

Does my dog or cat need to be present during the session?

Given our consultations are virtual, it's most important that you are prepared to provide us with an accurate picture of your concerns; generally we don't need to see your dog or cat - but we always love to!

Can you provide a bespoke recipe for my dog/cat?

Our standard nutrition consultations do not include a bespoke recipe for you to cook at home for your dog. Our nutritionist team are able to help develop a recipe but this is an additional service with a separate cost.

How long are the sessions?

We offer different session lengths depending on your needs — typically either 20-minute check-ins or 45-60-minute full consultations. You’ll be able to choose the option that suits you best when booking.

Do you provide session notes?

Not generally for 20 minute appointments. For longer (45-60 minute appointments) your consultant may share a brief summary after your session.

What if I need to cancel or change my appointment?

You can reschedule your appointment at any time up to the appointment start time. Just use the “reschedule” link in your confirmation email.

Cancellations:

  • Up to 24 hours before appointment time: fully refundable

  • Less than 24 hours before your appointment: refundable minus a £6 administrative fee

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds are available for cancellations with sufficient notice. Full details are in our Booking Terms.

How many appointments will I need?

That depends on what you’re hoping to address. Many clients find a single session is all they need, while others choose to check in with us regularly. Some start with a longer consultation and follow up with one or two shorter sessions. Your consultant can suggest whether a follow-up might be helpful, but the decision is always up to you. Please feel free to contact us (bookings@companionanimalwellness.co.uk) if you have any questions or aren't sure which appointment duration will be most appropriate.

Can you provide a report to my vet?

Yes - if your vet requires a report to support a discussion you have with them on your companion animal's behaviour we can provide a brief summary of our consultation.

When do you take payment?

We take payment in full by card when you make a booking. Please see the booking terms for refund and cancellation policy.

Can I claim the cost of my appointment back from my insurance company?

If you intend to make a claim for our services to your insurance company, please check with the insurance company before booking. If you already hold a policy with one of our partner insurance companies, you may be entitled to free appointments with us.

Payment
  • Payment is made in full upon booking by card.

Cancellations
  • Up to 24 hours before appointment time: fully refundable

  • Less than 24 hours before your appointment: refundable minus a £6 administrative fee

  • You can cancel your appointment using the ‘cancel’ link in your confirmation email. Your refund will then be processed accordingly.

  • Refunds typically take 5–10 working days to appear in your account, depending on your payment provider.

Rescheduling
  • You can reschedule your appointment at any time up to the appointment start time. Just use the “reschedule” link in your confirmation email.

No shows
  • Your consultant will remain on the line for 8 minutes, and will try to reach you by phone if you do not join your appointment at the start time.

  • If you do not join your virtual appointment within this window, and your consultant is not able to reach you by phone, this will be classified as a no-show. You will be refunded the amount you paid minus a £6 administrative fee.

  • If you did not provide a number when booking and do not join the virtual appointment within 8 minutes of the start time, this will be considered a no-show.

Technical issues
  • In case you do not join the virtual session at the start time, your consultant will call you on the number you provided when booking to conduct your appointment over the phone. If you do not answer, or did not provide a number when booking, this will be considered a no-show and the above no-show refund policy will apply.
